We are counting down the final hours to the end of a successful project. Or an unsuccessful one? Do not miss the management game that immediately and demonstrably increases the return on your investment into the development, management and delivery of IT services in your IT team. Apollo 13 is the best simulation for mastering the ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) methodology and IT Service Management under ITSM.

ITIL is an effective tool for managing IT. And yet you too may be among the organisations that invested in training their staff but struggle to translate that knowledge into practical benefits.
Using best practice requires a change in the approach of stakeholders. And that is exactly what this simulation is about. Through practical examples you will try applying proven ITSM practices in an organisation.
❏ Improve communication
► Become a higher-performing team
❏ Harness the potential of agile management
❏ Strengthen the sense of belonging among members of the organisation
► Understand internal company processes, inputs and outputs
Apollo 13 is designed for IT teams and individual managers who want to translate ITSM theory into practice. The simulation can be successfully used in any organisation that wants to harness the benefits of processes based on best practice, build team collaboration and focus on customer value.
► Identify areas for improving work processes
❏ Translate the theory of ITSM best practice under ITIL into practice
❏ Understand and experience the benefits of a process-based style of working on projects
Standard courses focus on passing the certification, where up to 80% is theory and terminology, rather than on translating theory into practice. Does any of these situations sound familiar?
It Will Not Be Easy The organisation sees ITSM as a complex implementation project rather than as a tool for the continual improvement of IT Service Management.
We Have No Clear Business Goals The IT division is too internally focused. It fails to focus on end users, that is on the business and the benefits that best practice methodologies such as ITIL deliver.
We Cannot Deliver Change Too little attention is paid to the ABC pillars: personal Attitude, Behavior and the Culture of the organisation. Another mistake is insufficient competence to deliver change.
We Need Change Applying proven practices requires a change in the approach of the stakeholders in the organisation. But we lack practical examples of how to start.
The most successful of the unsuccessful missions in the history of space travel, viewed through the lens of ITSM. The astronauts are 55 hours and 55 minutes into the mission when a loud bang is heard on board. One of the oxygen tanks has exploded and damaged the other fuel cells that are the primary source of power.
The pressure started to drop. The backup battery power supply has a lifespan of 10 hours. But the astronauts are 87 hours from home.
Ahead of you lies an extremely difficult, if not impossible, fight for survival. Orbit the Moon in a severely damaged craft, return to Earth and land safely. If you do not work as a team, the power and oxygen will run out before you make it back to Earth. Welcome to the Apollo 13 ITSM Experience simulator.
The specific goals depend on what your organisation wants to achieve, how mature your processes are and what problems and requirements you want to solve. Among the goals we achieve in the simulation are:
► More effective communication and collaboration
❏ Pragmatic and continual service improvement
❏ Clearly defined and agreed tasks, roles and responsibilities
► Easier coordination of people, processes, products and partners
❏ Demonstrating how the right tools help manage workflow and support knowledge sharing
Managers from EmbedIT play with us too. They secure IT from application design to support for PPF (Home Credit Group and Air Bank). Their applications are used by 45 million customers in 11 countries. EmbedIT has more than 800 employees who look after 20 data centres around the world with a volume of more than 200 million transactions per day.
The one-day simulation runs from 09:00 to 17:00. Real scenarios from the Apollo 13 mission are applied. You will work as the team of Mission Control Center in Houston. Your ITSM mission is to bring the damaged module with its crew safely back home.
Through this scenario you and your colleagues will learn to harness all the benefits of ITSM best practice ITIL. The whole simulation is played in 4 rounds:
Round 1
Build & Launch
❏ Fitting it all together and making it fly
► The team translates NASA strategy into Service Design for building and launching the mission
Round 2
Earth Orbit & Lunar Approach
❏ The earth is getting smaller and smaller
► Service Transition: moving Apollo 13 into the operational phase
Round 3
Trans Earth Coast
❏ The long journey home
► The team faces events, incidents and requests: Service Desk, Incident and Problem Management
Round 4
Re-entry & Splashdown
❏ Making it back alive
► Capacity Management, Continuity Management and fulfilling Service Agreements
The team must translate NASA strategy into a service design (Service Design) for building and launching (Building & Launching) and for managing and supporting the mission (Maintaining & Supporting). Throughout the mission the team faces many events, incidents and requests from the crew. In each round the team goes through the following steps:
► Designing and improving processes
❏ Simulating agreed scenarios
❏ Monitoring and reporting to stakeholders
► Continuous service improvement (CSI)
At the end of each round and the simulation overall, participants gain valuable feedback from both the correct and incorrect use of ITIL best practice. In the context of your own organisation you will understand the connections, gain new experience across the whole team and open up a range of opportunities for improving IT services.

What makes our references stand out? They are not one-off events. People come back to us and they do not close the door behind them.

Very interesting, I had several aha moments during it. I also liked the atmosphere and the collaboration within the team.
