Description
The FortiGate course is designed for professionals in the field of network administration and security who aspire to gain knowledge and skills in the field of security through Fortinet devices.
This course introduces participants to FortiGate firewalls and teaches them how to configure, manage, and maintain them. Throughout the course, participants will engage in various hands-on exercises, enabling them to independently set up the firewall from basic configuration to establishing a Site-to-Site VPN tunnel and configuring advanced security and filtering rules.
Goals
The goal of this course is to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and skills in the configuration, management, and security of networks using FortiGate devices from Fortinet. Participants will be able to understand both basic and advanced features and capabilities of FortiGate, including interface configuration, VLANs, routing, VPN tunnels, NAT, firewall policy, rule management, Application Control, IPS, URL and Web Filtering, virtual domain management, and logging and monitoring of network traffic.
The course focuses on practical exercises that enable participants to gain hands-on experience in configuring and managing FortiGate devices, preparing them for effective deployment of these technologies.Contents
Basic Settings
- Introduction to FortiGate, basic concepts, and configuration elements.
- Interface Configuration: Configuration of network interfaces, including VLANs, aggregation, and Extended MAC (EMAC) VLAN.
- Management Access: Configuration of device access through the console, web interface (Web GUI), and authentication.
- Routing Protocols Configuration: Introduction to static routing, IGP (Interior Gateway Protocol), and BGP (Border Gateway Protocol).
Site to Site VPN Configuration
- Site to Site VPN Configuration: Configuration of IPsec tunnel between two FortiGate firewalls.
- SSL VPN Remote Access: Configuration of remote network access using FortiClient.
- NAT Configuration: Configuration of Source NAT, Destination NAT, and advanced settings.
Firewall Policy and Management
- Firewall Policy: Configuration and creation of rules for network traffic control.
- Rule Management using Objects: Organization of rules using objects for easier management.
- Application Control: Overview of flow-based vs. proxy-based firewall and Application Control options.
- IPS, URL, and Web Filtering: Configuration of protection using IPS (Intrusion Prevention System), URL filtering, and web filtering.
- Virtual Domain (VDOM) Management: Global settings and management using VDOM.
